Chair & Councillor Sarah Thomas

I was born in the Amman Valley and grew up in Lower Brynamman. I attended Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Gwaun Cae Gurwen until I was 9 when I moved to Swansea. I returned to the area as an adult in my mid-twenties and I’m now living in
Cwmgors.

I have a background in Engineering and Technology, and I've worked in the Tech industry most of my adult life. I am a Board Member, Secretary and regular volunteer at Canolfan Maerdy, in Tairgwaith. I am also a Committee Member and Secretary for the local branch of Adult Learning Wales.

I am passionate about fairness, equality and justice. I am also very invested and interested in both mental & physical well-being. I am neurodiverse.

In 2022 I was elected as one of the County Borough Councillors for our Ward as well as Chair of the Community Council.

I am really looking forward to meeting with more members of the community and working together to make sure our friends, family, home and wider community are the best they can be.
